Karimunjawa Archipelago
Karimunjawa is an archipelago of 27 islands in the Java Sea, stretching approximately 83 kilometers northwest of Jepara, Central Java. It consists of small islands, mostly uninhabited, with five inhabited ones: Karimunjawa, Kemujan, Nyamuk, Parang, and Genting.
The name of Karimunjawa was derived from the Javanese language “kremun kremun saking tanah Jawi” as addressed by one of Wali Songo. The name describes how far these islands from Java.
